We at Dabble are thankful for three things: we’re thankful for teachers, for learners, and for big ollll’ parties.
Wednesday, Nov. 26, join Dabble, General Assembly and Project Fixup for Thanksversity: A Thank-FULL Gathering of Like-Minded Individuals. Treat yourself to a menu of mini-workshops and classes that are destined to wake you up from any turkey-induced nap. These include a whiskey tasting with long-time Dabble teacher, national Slow Food USA and Ark of Taste competition winner, and moderator of the American Speakeasy workshop at Terra Madre 2014 (“The Olympics of Food”), Devin Kidner. The founder and owner of Hollow Leg, Devin now works with Slow Food Chicago to commend local restaurants that practice authenticity, quality and sustainability in their cooking. Prep your taste buds for Devin’s affinity for local fare with her contest-winning “Maui in the Midwest” cocktail recipe.
Also, in case you still haven’t written up name cards for your Thanksgiving table, Dabble artist and renaissance man John-Michael Korpal will walk you through the dotted i’s and crossed t’s of calligraphy. Seek out samples of his work for an idea of how fine your handwriting could be. On top of all that, add SEO Basics and Intro to Design Thinking to your evening, and feed your curiosity by learning something new!
While you’re at it, meet someone new too! Project Fixup—a new dating platform that uses, well, dating to introduce like-minded people—will be at the party to see if they can make any matches. Ditch the profiles, swiping and unwanted messages in favor of face-to-face with a fellow whiskey-taster.
The booze; the food? On us. Need a lift out to SPACE (444 N. Wabash Ave.)? Use the code “Holidays34” for $10 toward your first ride with mobile carpooling app Lyft. Come out at 6 p.m. for these free festivities and find a passion, a person, a party to be thankful for.
